Kep DestinationKampot (Khmer: ក្រុងកំព�?, Khmer name for "Tetraodontidae") is the capital of Kampot Province in southern Cambodia, with a population of 39,186. The city is a quiet riverside town just a few kilometers from the Gulf of Thailand. Before the war, Kampot was best known for its famous black pepper, which is still widely available in Cambodia. It is also famous for its Kampot fish sauce. Kampot town is the base for daytrips up the Dâmrei Mountains in general, and Bokor Mountain in particular, in either a truck or a dirt bike. Rabbit Island Koh Tonsay is located about 4.5 Kilometers southwest of Kep. Tourists are drawn to the two beautiful white sand beaches.
